"The dragon nay-sayer"

Films: Dawn of the Dragonslayer (2011)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Forest/Civilized Area/Ocean

Height/Weight: That of an average fighter jet.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Dragons and those who slay them have been in legend since mankind could start making stories. Or at least, they're just another of the classics. While we'd certainly like less stories where people have to kill these majestic creatures, you can hardly fault someone for taking up a premise that has worked before.

History: Will Shepherd just saw his father get incinerated by a dragon. Naturally, this leads him to spend the rest of his life getting ready to get his revenge, and slay the beast. What he doesn't know is that the dragon was summoned into the world by evil people, one of which he's forced to work for. But no one can truly control a dragon, and it isn't long before Will finds minimal opposition when it comes to bringing it down. Of course, they find other things to bug him about, like a hackneyed love triangle.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After being confronted at its beach home, the dragon is finally put down when Will uses his enchanted sword to block the creature's fire. He then plunges it into the dragon's mouth, and after blacking out from the strain, he finds the monster splayed on the ground, dead.

Powers/Abilities: Fire-breathing.

Weakness: Its hide can be penetrated, but its weak spots include its underside and mouth.

Scariness Factor: 3-Like a lot of dragons, this one inspires more awe than fright. It isn't even all that convincing, being a cheap CGI model. That isn’t to say it's a badly designed dragon. By no means. It's a very powerful looking being, and it has the fighting skill to back it up. A shame the budget wasn't higher.

Trivia: -A pseudo-sequel, "The Crown and the Dragon", was released in 2013. Its dragon wasn’t nearly as well-rendered, and that's saying something.

-This dragon has many fins befitting fish. This could be a nod to how some cultures thought that some fish were in fact young dragons, such as koi, which would try to ascend to the Heavens and impress the Gods by going upstream, and become dragons in eastern mythology.
